Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital follows the global fight fans shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
