The Opening Game Pass Additions of 2026 Show Xbox Is Still Fighting.

Across the gaming landscape, commentators persist in tolling the funeral bells for Microsoft's gaming division. Microsoft's console just got outsold by a lesser-known competitor. Platform-specific outlets are now publishing content about PlayStation unprecedentedly. 2025 was a period of total upheaval for the tech giant's gaming arm. Yet, based exclusively on the titles headed to the service in 2026, it is apparent that Microsoft remains determined to draw people in with compelling titles on its flagship service.

The Immediate Additions

The duo of games currently accessible at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. Rather, it's what is coming to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's truly noteworthy.

Significant Forthcoming Releases

On Jan. 13, the subscription service will add the underrated Star Wars Outlaws, a vast exploration title that refreshes conventional open-world tropes with an intergalactic heist adventure. Another big get is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, which our 2021 review called "an ideal blend of terror and combat."

Intriguing Niche Additions

However, the more modest titles arriving shortly on the service are noteworthy here. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, an unjustly ignored roguelite that is incredibly fun, arrives January 7th — and it merits a playthrough even if you missed out on the first Lost in Random game.

The British post-apocalyptic game from last year could captivate you remarkably quickly.

Atomfall, a survival title with stealth elements by the makers of Sniper Elite, also warrants your attention. Those with the top-tier subscription also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to anticipate.

A Solid, Curated Lineup

In summary, this isn't a revolutionary update to Game Pass, and they are also not tentpole Microsoft studios games that justify the service in the first place. Yet, this selection are exceptionally strong. There's a good mixture of past releases that passed you by and new-ish games that lacked the recognition they deserved the first time around — which makes them perfect candidates to experience a revival on Game Pass.

Hope you're ready to say goodbye to The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
